para resolver issoé simples, basta executar:
syndaemon -i 1 -d
para isso acontecer sempre que vc entrar, abra o Gerenciador de Sessões (Sistema > Preferências > Sessão) e adicione o comando “syndaemon -i 1 -d” (sem aspas!!) à aba de Programas Iniciais!
outro método:
você pode desligar no SETUP do seu notebook ou desabilitá-lo no /etc/X11/xorg.conf comentando as linhas que chamam os módulos.
reinicie o X com:
/etc/init.d/gdm restart
Se vc usa o kde+kdm
/etc/init.d/kdm restart

tente desabilitar deste modo, esteja certo que no seu /etc/X11/xorg.conf existe as linhas:
